Sweetchilli presents Zombie Nation & Ivan Smagghe

Zombie Nation: After spending some years spinning at illegal parties organized by him and a bunch of friends in “Zombie-City” aka Munich (Germany) Zombie mastermind, Splank released the first Zombie Nation 5-Track EP on DJ Hell’s Label, International Deejay Gigolo Records in the spring of 1999.

Within the next year all hell broke loose. The debut release contained the unsuspecting song “Kernkraft 400” which developed a life of its own. The Zombie had created a monster that crawled into the brains of the people with unexpected power. A licensed re-make of that monster made it even bigger, where it landed in high chart-positions all over the world. (Greece: #1, England: #2). Since this time, some gold records decorate Splank´s studio toilet.

Staying true to your ”inner beat” is what got Splank and the Zombie mystique where it is now. Nothing proves that better than his last Album released in late 2003 called “Absorber LP”. This long player followed the first “Leichenschmaus” album which was released in fall ´99 on Gigolo Records.

Within a studio period of two years, songs of substance were created. Fresh ElectroCore, abstract, different, lively! The sound arises from extraordinary machines, occasionally manufactured after his individual taste. The general concept is finding a new approach to every new song Splank generates.

Zombie Nation live has become it´s s own brand. The global Zombie tour has spread across all continents during the last 5 years and will be going on this year. Watch out, the Zombies could be around you sooner than you wish, or maybe for some, not soon enough.

Ivan Smagghe (Blackstrobe): Electro loving souls would be well aware of Ivan Smagghe by now, whether it be through his spectacular dancefloor stunners with Black Strobe as they ripped out our hearts and souls with their deeply seductive dance thumpers ‘Me & Madonna’ or ‘Chemical Sweet Girl’. Or maybe we were first enlightened to the sound of his ventures with Mark Collin in Volga Select? No? Well then it must have been as one of your well-informed friends introduced you to his own amazing mixes, as he took the reigns of ‘Suck My Deck’, ‘FabricLive’ and ‘Death Disco’ releases.

This summer, it’s our chance to experience his pure spinning brilliance first-hand as he touches down in Australia to hijack our stages for the first time, with a string of shows set to blow us away with his chic dancefloor knowledge and know how, as he leaves us hazy eyed and tired for the first few months of 06.

Sweetchilli is pleased to bring something a little left of centre to minichilli... as the global zombie tour hits the civic theate this January 6th along with special Guest, France's Ivan Smagghe.
